The advantage of living in a digital age is that there are so many more news options than there were ten years ago. I, however, am old fashioned (the shift from mostly print to mostly digital news still hurts me like no other) and I still prefer the news networks with the biggest influence, the ones that have been around the longest; my logic being that they haven't made such a name for themselves for nothing.
My favorite sources, the ones that I check and rely on the most, are The New York Times, The Washington Post, and CNN. Huffington Post, has been a new favorite of mine, having risen lately as a trustworthy news source.
As someone with a heavy interest in politics and global issues, I appreciate at least an attempt to remain impartial in a world where bipartisanship is almost unheard of. This belief shapes my avoidance of sites like Fox News, which in my humble opinion, distort the news to the point of extreme right propaganda. The fact that I'm a democrat may also help with that desire to avoid Fox News, but I hold most news sources to that regard. Personal opinions have no place in political stories.
My personal political views are my own, and while pieces that lean left may agree with me, they have as little a place as right wing views in a piece that's supposed to just be informing the public of the facts. Facts which end up distorted once they are passed through a biased filter.
Speaking of biased personal views, the following video is the speech that former president Bill Clinton gave at the Democratic National Convention earlier this year. In my defense, it's kind of related since NY Times posted it. Hey, the instruction was to share one of my favorite videos, and politics is my favorite thing, and this is my favorite political thing in recent years. Ergo:
